Triloka Hawaiian High IncenseTriloka Hawaiian High IncenseLike most Triloka scents this one is very clean, balanced, does well in small to moderate sized spaces, and doesn’t overstay its welcome. The top note is a very smooth sandalwood base. Triloka does sandalwood very well, if you like yours on the creamy neutral end of the spectrum you’ll really appreciate it. This acts as the foundation for a noticeable, and well rounded Madagascan vanilla note. Next up is some subtle coconut. Which again, is well balanced; it’s blended so well into the whole that it doesn’t smack you up side the head like some coconut scents are want to do. There is what I can only describe as a minor layer of toasted warm spices. Nutmeg and Ceylon cinnamon come to mind. However, I’d emphasize the toasted subtle nature of them. Think right after you begin to toast spices and the heat has just begun to ever so slightly release their aromas. Interestingly, there really isn’t much if any floral or fruit notes to this one; which is surprising given it’s name. It’s very warm and tropical in a classy Hawaiian Tropic suntan lotion kinda way. I could see myself sitting on a lanai watching the sunset while a warm breeze wafts this scent past me as I watch the sun slip below the horizon.

Triloka Frankincense and Myrrh IncenseTriloka Frankincense and Myrrh IncenseLike most Triloka scents this has a wonderful neutral sandalwood base. Despite its name sake I found very little of the title ingredients in the actual scent. Not that this is a bad thing however. Most of their incense has a noticeable vanilla note, but here it is especially prominent. I love natural vanilla undertones, heck, even overtones, when done well and naturally. If you’re like me and enjoy vanilla this will be right up your alley. The scent itself is hard to put one’s finger on. It’s very well balanced, sweet, but not cloying. Honestly, despite it not smelling of coffee at all, to me it reminds me of sipping a vanilla latte whilst cozied up to a fire place in a quaint coffee shop with the smell of clove cigarettes wafting through the door. In fact, that’s exactly how it makes me feel. I adore this scent in colder weather and it does actually make me crave coffee or hot chocolate. Do be aware that the clove note is quite noticeable. This is a staple in my collection and gets used frequently. The price is outstanding and it punches well above its weight in the quality/price ratio. I’ve converted several incense skeptics with this very scent and that speaks for itself.

Goloka Frangipani IncenseGoloka Frangipani IncenseSo imagine a nice light Nag Champa. Now, imagine your great aunt wearing her old lady lilly scented perfume walking through the room. If that’s your bag, Goloka nailed it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s actually a nice scent once it burns out and opens up in a mid to large sized room. I actually had to burn through half the 15 gram box before I could make up my mind as to if I liked it or not. I do like it once it’s extinguished. The after scent lingers quite pleasantly; as great aunt Ethel seems to leave the building along with the active smoke. It’s good quality for sure and a good price. If you want to try a frangipani and don’t mind the lilly, gardenia perfume scent during the burn; it resolves into a nice floral Champa, give it a try.
