These are nice, but you need to let them air out for at least a few days before burning them.

People are not exaggerating in reviews (elsewhere). This does indeed simply smell like wood burning, heavy emphasis on the burning. I can't really discern that it's sandalwood in any way, you have to burn some other sandalwood scent with it to get that fragrance. It's probably more useful as a prop compliment to say an electric fireplace or to otherwise safely mimic the scent of a wood fire, than it is for the calming sweetness that most people want from sandalwood blends. I like to burn this with their regular sandalwood cones, outside on a ledge while my window is open, as burning it inside can be overwhelming. I do look forward to using this in the winter on excessively windy nights when I can't make a fire outside. I can't really say this is bad, it's just a special use or specific interest scent. There have been a lot of fire candle fragrances that I liked more than this for getting a fire with sweetness vibe, as this is just intense harsh fire.
